Anxiety
You often feel stressed, overwhelmed, under pressure, with an ever-increasing amount of work and a personal mental load that exhausts you. You anticipate, you analyze, you doubt your choices, you're anxious about the future, you cogitate at night, you don't even know what your priorities are anymore. Tasks pile up, and you're afraid of letting go, of forgetting something important, of not being up to the task, or of disappointing others by asking for help. You're getting closer to burnout as you pull on the rope, you're holding on, but until when? How do you get out of this never-ending whirlpool? Expatriate
Living abroad is a fascinating and deeply enriching experience, but it's also full of challenges. It requires a great deal of adaptability: navigating unfamiliar territory, without landmarks, without mastering cultural codes... and that creates a lot of stress on a daily basis. Some days, you wouldn't leave your new life for the world. Other days, anxiety takes over, with questions running round and round about the uncertainties of the future, the guilt of having left your loved ones behind, and the feeling that you'll never fully fit in in either of the 2 countries. Your confidence is weakened, because it's difficult to be yourself in another language, to assert yourself without feeling judged, or perceived as a “foreigner”.
